Morning Coffee Break at Bon Air Library: Raise a Ruckus! Virginia Folk Music 1607-1967

Historian Carson Hudson shares stories and family anecdotes featuring musical instruments as played in Virginia over the last 400 years.

Enjoy the sounds of flutes, whistles, harmonicas, dulcimers, banjos, diddley bows and jaw harps. No registration is required.

Morning Coffee Break programs are recommended for adults aged 55 and better. Walgreens sponsors the Morning Coffee Break Series. Our thanks to them for providing refreshments and for their Wellness Welcomes at the start of each program.

Bon Air Library to close Jan. 1st; reopening in June

Bon Air Library

The Bon Air Library is being completely renovated. On January 1, 2014, the library will close through the remainder of the renovations.  The completed library is expected to be reopened in June 2014.

Below is a list of important dates during the renovation:

  • Friday, December 20, 2013 is the last day to request a hold be sent to Bon Air.
  • Tuesday, December 31, 2013 is when the Bon Air library will close for renovation at 5:00 p.m. The Bon Air book drop will be unavailable once the library has closed, items may be returned to other branches. Please do not leave library materials outside of the building.
  • Friday, January 3, 2014 is the first day that a Bon Air hold item can be picked up at Midlothian. If you would prefer a different pick-up location, please call any other CCPL branch for assistance.
  • June 2014 is when the Bon Air library is expected to reopen in time for the Summer Reading Kickoff.

The nearest branches are Midlothian, LaPrade, and Meadowdale.

Whimsical Winter Tales with a Twist at Bon Air Library

Morning Coffee Break: Deck the Halls with Lamar Banister at Bon Air Library

Take a festive musical journey back to the first Christmas carol and revisit stories of the season.

Lamar Banister wears Victorian period dress and plays a variety of instruments. Get in the holiday spirit with seasonal favorites!

No registration is required.

Refreshments are provided compliments of the Friends of the Library.

Teen Studio: Fabulous Felt Flowers at Bon Air Library

Bon Air Library

Create beautiful blooms of colorful wool fibers and fashion them into pretty petals.

You’ll make several flowers to mount onto a hairpin or brooch.

Learn the tools and techniques of this popular craft from artist Janice Stegall-Seibert.

Darryl Ellyson sings Delta Blues at Bon Air Library on Nov. 5th

Join Darryl Ellyson for a musical performance as he brings his sweet baritone to Chesterfield County.

Known for his rich voice, exceptional songwriting abilities and bluesy soul style, Darryl incorporates stories and song into one exceptional performance.

This program is recommended for adults 55 and over.

No registration is recommended and refreshments will be served compliments of the Friends of the Library.

Children’s Art Workshop at Bon Air Library on Nov. 9th

Visual Arts Center

Children will create unique two- and three-dimensional works of art to take home or give as a gift.

Teachers from the Visual Arts Center of Richmond will guide young artists in using a variety of materials to spark their imaginations. Clay, wire, paint and other materials will be used to unleash everyone’s creative potential.

For children 7-10 years old. Space is limited.

Registration is required and began  on October 19. Please register only the children who will participate in the program. Parents do not need to register.
